2TRUE

The mineral difference

Clear answers about aluminum, minerals and sweat.

Different compounds, different intended functions. Here's what that means in plain language.

The aluminum question

Let's talk about the aluminum in mineral deodorant.

When you see the word aluminum, it's reasonable to ask questions. Potassium alum is potassium aluminum sulfate — a mineral salt that contains aluminum as part of its chemical composition. That means 2TRUE is not aluminum-free. We believe clear ingredient information is more useful than confusing claims.

What 2TRUE uses

Potassium alum: an aluminum-containing mineral salt used in crystal-style deodorants to support an odor-focused routine.

What conventional antiperspirants use

Antiperspirant ingredients such as aluminum chlorohydrate or certain aluminum-zirconium compounds, formulated to reduce sweating by temporarily restricting sweat flow in sweat ducts.

Different compounds, different intended functions. 2TRUE is offered as a deodorant, not an antiperspirant.

Is mineral aluminum automatically safer or healthier?

No such conclusion should be assumed. "Natural" doesn't automatically mean safer. Skin tolerance varies, and a finished product needs appropriate safety assessment. We do not claim that 2TRUE prevents disease or is medically superior to antiperspirants.

Does aluminum in antiperspirants cause breast cancer?

According to the U.S. National Cancer Institute, current scientific evidence has not established a link between antiperspirant or deodorant use and breast cancer.

Glossary

Terms worth knowing.

Deodorant
A product intended to address body odor. In the U.S., deodorants are generally regulated as cosmetics.
Antiperspirant
A product intended to reduce sweating. In the U.S., antiperspirants are regulated as over-the-counter drugs with approved sweat-reducing ingredients.
Potassium alum
Potassium aluminum sulfate — a mineral salt that contains aluminum. Used for generations in crystal-style deodorants. Its molecules are too large to pass through the skin's outer barrier, so it works by sitting on the skin's surface rather than being absorbed into the body.
Aluminum chlorohydrate
A common antiperspirant ingredient, formulated to temporarily reduce sweat flow.
